Accessibility

Reimerswaal borders on the province of Noord-Brabant in the east and on Belgium in the south. The city of Antwerp is a neighbouring municipality. In the west lies Zeeland´s hinterland.  All places can be accessed via the A58 motorway. The Schelde-Rijn Kanaal (Schelde-Rijn Channel) connects the Oosterschelde and the Westerschelde and boosts business activities in the surrounding villages. Hansweert has a renowned shipyard and is home base to the KNRM (Royal Dutch Lifeboat Institution).

 

Business Activity

From an economical point of view, Reimerswaal is a prosperous municipality due to its potatoes, crustaceans and shellfish, onions, fruit and a huge number of vegetable greenhouses. Millions of tonnes of food products are exported from the Reimerswaal polders to the rest of the world.  Most of these companies are family businesses: down-to-earth, hardworking people who have been building up their business for generations.
